Momentum One Day Cup 2014: Tournament Preview

The Momentum One Day Cup is South Africa’s premier one day cricket competition, with six sides from across the country taking part. The games are well-supported, with day-night games a regular feature and crowds often reaching higher numbers than for international test matches.

momentumEach of the sides play each other home and away throughout the season, with the sides finishing first to third qualifying for the play-offs. Second and third play in a semi-final to see who plays first in the final. Intriguingly, the competition employs a bonus point system – you get an extra point if the winning team achieves a run rate of at least 1.25 times that of the opposition.
