Georgie Pie Super Smash 2014: Tournament Preview

The Georgie Pie Super Smash is New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 tournament, bringing together the best club sides in the country for a feast of the shortest form of the game.

smashThere are six teams – each side will play each other twice before the top four move into the semi-finals, first playing fourth and second playing third. The winner of the grand final earns the right to feature at next year’s Champions League T20.

Last season

The Georgie Pie Super Smash is a new tournament this year, replacing what was known as the HRV Cup before. In the last ever HRV Cup, it was the Northern Districts, after finishing second in the regular season, who triumphed in the final over Otago.
